[SAFETY] Prepare for the Long Winter with These Safety Tips

With the winter upon us, it’s time to review some of the basic safety tips to help you and your fleet get to where you need to go. Here are some important pointers that can prevent accidents:

  • Always avoid driving when tired. Try to get at least 6 hours of sleep before you decide to get behind the wheel. A caffeine or sugar boost will not be enough!
  • Make sure to check your tires. If your vehicle is able to drive in all-wheel drive, use it.
  • Try to warm up your vehicle if you can. Warming up the engine allows for a smoother ride with fewer hiccups.
  • Check your gas tank reading often to avoid long gas lines.
  • Try to avoid using your parking or emergency brake in extreme winter conditions.
  • Practice regular caution: use your seatbelt, make sure that all windows are clean, and check to make sure your windshield wipers and lights are working before you take off.

Safety should be a number one concern for your business. Whether your drivers are driving their trucks, or your other workers are driving to and from jobs or even home, being cautious is important. Besides using fleet management software, there are other ways to ensure the safety of your fleet: with education of road safety during the winter.
